100th Anniversary CelebrationI had the honor of attending the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Cattaraugus County Health Department yesterday, which was a great event commemorating a century of dedicated service to the community. I would like to thank Dr. Kevin Watkins, Cattaraugus County's Public Health Director, for the invitation to this event. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the department's success and impact over the years. I would also like to acknowledge the remarkable efforts of the entire health department team for organizing such a memorable celebration. STHCS TikTok AccountOur Heartcorps interns have been working hard over the past two weeks. Jillian will be assisting with the coordination of the NYS EMT-B Certification and Regional Paramedic Programs, supporting STHCS programs, while Maryam will be aiding in STHCS programs and participating in community outreach efforts. Both of them will also focus on educating the community about preventing and managing high blood pressure. As part of their efforts, they have created a TikTok account for STHCS. The account was started with a facility tour and an introduction to our staff. Jillian and Maryam have plans to expand our presence on TikTok and highlight our programs in a way that reaches a new audience.
HeartCorpsThis summer, STHCS is very happy to have two Public Health AmeriCorps members from the American Heart Association. We recently welcomed Jillian Stevens and Maryam Mirza to our team. They both attended our EMT-B Academy last summer and became certified NYS EMT-Bs. As part of their internship, they also became AHA CPR instructors and had the chance to help Sydney with a HeartSaver class this week. We're excited to have them with us for the next 9 weeks!
