Trauma-Informed Care Champion Learning Collaborative
Stroke Management for the EMS ProviderOn Tuesday, we held a Continuing Medical Education (CME) event for EMS providers in our region, featuring a hybrid in-person/online format. Dr. Belle, Neurologist at Olean General Hospital (OGH), presented to a group of over 40 providers. Dr. Belle focused on the vital role of OGH as a primary stroke center, highlighting the importance of early intervention for stroke patients.
The event also featured Upper Allegheny Health System’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Henri Lamothe, and OGH’s ER Director, Dr. Phil Senger, who shared valuable insights with attendees. The stroke scale, FAST-ED, was introduced as an effective tool for screening for possible Large Vessel Occlusion. We are grateful to everyone who participated, especially Dr. Belle, Dr. Lamothe, and Dr. Senger, for their contributions. Additionally, a special acknowledgment goes to Dr. Walters, EMS County Medical Director, who collaborated with Dr. Lamothe to ensure the implementation of a standardized stroke scale in the Southern Tier. Your collective efforts significantly impact our healthcare practices in the region. State EMS CouncilI'm excited to share some updates from my recent trip to the State EMS Council in Troy, NY. At the EMS Innovation Committee meeting, Director Greenburg invited me to discuss our Step Into Health Care program and showcase our in-house ambulance simulator. Our region made a strong presence at the State meeting, and I want to give a big shoutout to Mickey Forness, Todd Reisner, Scott Lanphier, Dan Marsh, Tim Carlson, Bonnie VanHousen, and Alicia Broadbent for being there. I am also excited to share that Todd Reisner is now part of the legislative and systems subcommittees, contributing invaluable insights. 2024 Monthly Blood Drive Schedule - Your Chance to Save Lives! We're thrilled to unveil our monthly blood drive schedule for 2024.
