StrOlean Events![]() Today, October 1, is a busy day for StrOlean! From 2 to 6 p.m. we will have many events taking place. Here at STHCS, we will have a table set up in our storefront promoting the various programs to improve our rural community's health and wellness. We will also be providing information regarding our health insurance enrollment. Inside STHCS in the Training Center, individuals from the City of Olean Fire Department will be available to teach interested individuals how to Stop the Bleed and perform Hands-Only CPR to save a life! The training teaches Hands-Only CPR and essential bleeding control. If you are interested in this training, stop by STHCS anytime. Lastly, down at the City of Olean Fire Department at 542 N. Union St., we will be hosting a Fire Safety Chalk Art Day to celebrate the first day of Fire Safety Month! Kids will be using the front apron at the fire station as their canvas and will get to draw a fire safety picture. We are happy to be able to host these community events! Pint for a Pint![]() Throughout September, October and November, we have partnered with Four Mile Brewing to offer a Pint for a Pint promotion at the blood drives at STHCS. Each donor who presents at STHCS will receive a coupon for a free pint of blood at 4MB! To make an appointment to donate at one of our drives, click here! Thank you to Four Mile for support the local blood supply with this great promotion! Update Link CHA Steering Committee Meeting![]() On Wednesday morning, I attended the Kick-off meeting for Community Health Assessment Steering Committee for Cattaraugus County. It is hard to believe it has already been three years since the last CHA/CHIP was completed! This effort is once again being led by Cattaraugus County Health Department and Olean General Hospital. I am looking forward to continuing to work with this group as they put together the 2022 report. COVID Vaccine Roundtable: Discussion and Q&A for EMS Providers![]() In partnership with the University at Buffalo's Family Medicine Residency Rural Track, Olean General Hospital, and Universal Primary Care, we hosted a conversation regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, specifically for EMS. This roundtable included: Dr. Christina Roosa, Associate Program Director; Dr. Ravi Purushuttam, Universal Primary Care Core Faculty, and current Resident Physicians: Dr. Philip Fourie, Dr. Anh Phan, Dr. Afza Safeer, and Dr. Kuldesh Ubhi. EMS Providers from the three counties were given an opportunity to ask questions about COVID-19 and the vaccinations that are available. Some great questions and discussions occurred, and it was very beneficial for the EMS providers in attendance. I want to thank all the physicians who volunteered to speak with our providers, and we look forward to future educational opportunities! |
