Wear Green November 18th to support National Injury Prevention Day! ![]() On Thursday, November 18, 2021, STHCS team members along with the Injury Free Coalition for Kids and the country's leading injury and violence prevention organizations will join forces for the 2nd annual "National Injury Prevention Day," a day designed to raise awareness about the burden of injury, violence and a need for change. Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to U.S. children from 1 to 18 years old. Every day, 20 children die from preventable injuries, resulting in more deaths than all other diseases combined. In fact, injury is the leading cause of death for people through 44 years of age. We ask that you encourage your team member to wear green on November 18th to raise awareness. Update Link Understanding the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer and dementiaThis week our Caregiver Navigation Program Coordinator held a community education class entitled "Understanding the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer and dementia". This course was taught by Claire, who is an outreach specialist with the Alzheimer's Association. Many individuals were in attendance and had great questions regarding their situations with their loved ones. This was a great learning opportunity for members of our community, and we look forward to future educational sessions! Pediatric Resource Kits for EMSThrough the generosity of the Southwestern Regional EMS Council, Southern Tier Health Care System has been working on assembling Pediatric Resource Kits. These kits include medical communication cards, a Pediatape, a quick tape, and a Pedi-Wheel. We are in the process of distributing one kit to each EMS agency in our region. Additionally, we are offering the opportunity for agencies to purchase additional kits or individual items if they feel this would benefit their agency. We are thankful that SWREMS supports our efforts to ensure the preparedness of our EMS providers to treat pediatric patients!
