Blood Drive Anniversary!![]() Tomorrow will be two years since we held our first blood drive with ConnectLife at STHCS! What started as a temporary location for ConnectLife due to many canceled blood drives right as the pandemic started has turned into a great partnership with two blood drives per month at STHCS. Over two years, we have had 763 donors, which has led to nearly 2,300 lives saved! Pictured is Brett Lawton, CEO of Universal Primary Care, who was able to make his first blood donation at STHCS and place his leaf on our Tree of Life! We are happy we were able to start hosting these blood drives for our community and look forward to saving many more lives. Reaching the 5%![]() Southern Tier Health Care System has continued our partnership with the Community Service Society of New York (CSS) through their “Reaching the 5%” uninsured outreach program for the second year of funding. Yesterday, Alicia presented to the organizations that are part of the Reaching 5% program on STHCS’ techniques for outreach to rural counties. In addition, she was able to share the successes of our outreach in our catchment and how excited we are about moving forward with the initiative. I would like to thank the Health Foundation of Western and Central NY for continuing funding for this program for an additional year. Update Link Smoke Alarm Program in Chautauqua County ![]() As we move the clocks forward March 13 for Daylight Saving Time, our Safe Kids coalition would like to remind everyone not to forget to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. This simple act can save your life or others in the event of an emergency. I want to thank Lake Shore Savings Bank Community Reinvestment Program for funding a program that will allow us to distribute 180 smoke alarms to families in need in Chautauqua County. It is our hope that we will be able to expand this program to Cattaraugus and Allegany counties as well. Cattaraugus County CHA Steering Committee ![]() This week, I was able to attend the steering meeting for the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan for Cattaraugus County. At this meeting we were able to review the results from the community survey and the focus groups that have been completed in an effort to prepare the final improvement plan. I want to thank Dr. Watkins for ensuring this process has been going so smoothly. I am happy to be able to participate on the steering committee and look forward to continued work on the plan.
