Safe Summer Bike Helmet Program ![]() Safe Kids Southern Tier New York (SKSTNY) has kicked off our Safe Summer Bike Helmets program in Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Chautauqua Counties in 2022. Local police departments and EMS agencies will be giving children a free bicycle helmet if they are seen riding without one or reward them with a $5 Amazon gift card if they are seen wearing a helmet while riding. It is important to remember that kids should wear a helmet when riding a scooter, skating, skateboarding or biking. It is the single most effective safety device available to reduce head injury and death from bike crashes. If you know of someone who is in need of a helmet, contact Sydney at [email protected]. Caregiver Education & Resource Fair ![]() Last week, The Alzheimer's Association of WNY hosted a Caregiver Education & Resource Fair at Southern Tier Health Care System. The event featured a presentation of "Understanding Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia" and caregiver related giveaways! I am glad that STHCS was able to make our training center available for this great event that benefits many individuals in the community. If you know of someone who needs caregiver navigation services, please have them contact Bethany at [email protected]. Update Link Sexual Assault Awareness Month ![]() This past week, Southern Tier Health Care System received Citation from Assemblyman Giglio and a Proclamation from Senator Borrello recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I would like to thank both of our representatives for bringing awareness to this month and for their support over the years for our Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner program. I would also like to thank Kathlyn Ramey, Prevention Education & Outreach Coordinator of CCA - Victim Services for presenting “Considerations When EMS Responds to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault” This presentation was attended by nearly 50 providers from across New York State and we received great feedback! At this meeting Ed Bysiek, CPA presented this year’s external fiscal audit and 990 to the Board which included a clean opinion of our financial operations and reaffirmed STHCS’ strong financial position.
