Forensic Nurses Week![]() Happy Forensic Nurses week! This week we would like to thank all of our fantastic SAFE Providers for dedicating their time and skills to caring for survivors of sexual assault. In addition, we thank you for your ongoing commitment. Cattaraugus County Career Academy![]() The first two sessions of the Healthcare track for the Cattaraugus County Career Academy took place at STHCS this week. All students who participated this week were able to complete the training to be certified in American Heart Association HeartSaver CPR, First Aid and AED. This is a great training to start the student's exposure to the healthcare field. The next sessions will be December 13 and 15 and will focus on careers including occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, speech pathology, and human services. Veteran’s Day![]() I wish all veterans who, despite the risk and sacrifice, served and defended the United States. I would also like to recognize those currently fighting as we honor our veterans and remember their great deeds. Finally, I hope everyone has a great weekend and can spend time with those you love the most. Perinatal & Infant Community Health CollaborativeThis week, Sydney and I met with Ann Battaglia, Ashley Conti, and Susan Guziec of Healthy Community Alliance to discuss the grant they received for the Perinatal & Infant Community Health Collaborative (PICHC) in Chautauqua County. The goal of the PICHC initiative is to support community-based efforts to improve the overall health and well-being of birthing people and their families and improve health outcomes. In addition, the PICHC program works together with communities to reduce racial, ethnic, and economic disparities in health outcomes and address the factors that affect racial and ethnic disparities. Our Safe Kids Southern Tier NY and Cribs for Kids Safe Sleep program will partner with HCA on this initiative working with mothers, fathers, and families to promote healthy outcomes. Telesuites AvailableSTHCS, in collaboration with CASA-Trinity, Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (ACASA), Clarity Wellness Community, Seneca Health, and Cattaraugus County Department of Community Services, is strengthening access to substance use disorder and related behavioral health services in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in New York. The coalition has assessed the broadband accessibility issues in Western New York and established 5 locations within the two counties, called telesuites.
The locations in Allegany County include Friendship Free Library, Wide Awake Club Library (Fillmore), and Whitesville Public Library. The locations in Cattaraugus County include Randolph Library and Healthy Community Alliance (Gowanda). Jordan has worked hard on this project as part of our Moving Forward Together coalition, and I am excited to see the sites are now up and running!
