New NYS Paramedics!I'm delighted to share the wonderful news that all ten Olean paramedic students have successfully passed the New York State exam! After 17 months of hard work and dedication, their achievement fills me with immense pride. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who supported and contributed to this milestone. Congratulations to our new paramedics: Jared Granger, Abbie Kohler, and Cory Rauch from Trans Am Ambulance Services, and Tim Hite, David Hlasnick, Mike Mostowy, Brandon Muniga, Chris Selph, Monty Shoemaker, and Jordan Smith from the City of Olean Fire Department. Your commitment and perseverance are truly inspiring. Harm Reduction Vending Machines ExpansionMATTERS is expanding its harm reduction vending machine program throughout New York State. We are actively seeking organizations to partner with us in placing these new machines. The goal is to strategically deploy vending machines in high-need communities to ensure better access to overdose prevention supplies. If your organization is interested in placing a vending machine, please contact Jordan at [email protected].
Virtual Open Water and Boating Safety TrainingOur Safe Kids Southern Tier New York program is offering a free virtual training session for kids and parents on open water and boating safety. Thanks to a grant from Safe Kids Worldwide and the U.S. Coast Guard, children living in Allegany, Cattaraugus, or Chautauqua counties who complete this training will receive a free U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket. If you or someone you know needs a life jacket, please have them complete the online training on our website. Happy EMS Week! This week, we celebrated our local EMS providers for EMS Week with various events, including cookouts. As the week wraps up, I want to wish all EMS providers a Happy EMS Week once again. Your dedication to the community is truly appreciated, and your excellent medical care does not go unnoticed.
