Anatomage Table![]() Yesterday, the paramedic students were able to visit St. Bonaventure University’s Dennis R. DePerro School of Health Professions and got to experience the Anatomage Tables. The Anatomage Table is a technologically advanced 3D anatomy visualization and virtual dissection tool for anatomy and physiology education. This is a great learning tool for paramedic students. To learn more about the tables, click here for a Nat Geo documentary. Thank you to SBU and Dr. Scott Medler for partnering with us to give our students this great opportunity. Vacation![]() This past week, I have been able to spend some time cruising the Caribbean with my husband and son! It has been a wonderful week. Knowing I have an excellent staff to ensure everything is taken care of has allowed me to enjoy my time off. Overdose Prevention![]() The Southern Tier Opioid Overdose Prevention program has been very busy lately. Our overdose prevention report highlighting 2022 data for our region is complete and available on our website. Also, as reported a few weeks ago, Jordan has worked on a “Debunking Narcan Myths” social media campaign that addresses the stigma that is often associated with SUD/OUD. Jordan has created a toolkit that any organization can use to share these social media posts on their own social media pages. Click here to download the toolkit. I want to thank Jordan and Alicia for all their efforts in making these posts available. Through our partnership with MATTERS, we were recently notified that we had been chosen to partner on the Harm Reduction Vending Machine initiative. The exact location of the vending machine is to be determined. However, it will likely be placed in Cattaraugus County near a population center that is seeing many overdoses in the community. Step Into Healthcare![]() Last week, we hosted two more Career Academy sessions, a part of the Step into Healthcare program. The academy classes have been made possible through Southern Tier West funding. At these sessions, we highlighted the careers of pharmacy, pharmacy technician, medical lab technologist, forensic nurse, and public health worker. I want to thank our presenters: Dr. Sarah Gilroy, Ben Wright, and Amy Baer of Olean General Hospital; Brandace Gaylor of the STHCS SAFE Program; and Traci Wind, Matt Tyssee (and service dog Kallie), Melissa Chamberlain, and Mariel Grey from the Cattaraugus County Health Department. These presentations gave the students more areas to consider when going into healthcare, and we look forward to future sessions. |
