Trauma SimulationI would like to thank Todd Reisner for sharing his time and knowledge as he led an important review session for a group of paramedic students this week. He reviewed the essential skills and knowledge necessary for their upcoming International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification. During the session, Todd guided the students through different trauma scenarios using a lifelike simulation manikin. This hands-on approach not only improved their understanding of trauma assessment and treatment but also boosted their confidence and ability to handle critical situations in their future healthcare careers. Board of Directors MeetingI'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of the dedicated board members of STHCS for their presence at this week's meeting. Your valuable insights, guidance, and unwavering commitment have played a pivotal role in our shared mission to enhance the health of our rural community. I truly appreciate your contributions in transforming our vision into a tangible reality.
Kids in the KitchenOn Wednesday, our Safe Kids program, in collaboration with FeedMore WNY, hosted a memorable Kids in the Kitchen Class. The children not only had an amazing time but also gained invaluable knowledge about nutrition and cooking safety. I would like to thank our Safe Kids Coordinator Sydney and Perry from FeedMore WNY for coordinating the event. I would also like to extend a thank you to the City of Olean Firefighters Selph, Smith, Peters, Woodin, and Shoemaker for their presentation on fire prevention and safety. Thier commitment to the safety and well-being of our community is truly commendable. As always, we remain committed to enhancing education and food accessibility for families and children throughout Western New York, and this week's achievements are a testament to our collective efforts. Step Into Healthcare Career AcademyI’m excited to share a unique program that Southern Tier Health Care System, Inc. is actively involved in - the Cattaraugus County Career Academy (CCCA). This program is a collaborative effort with Southern Tier West and is designed to introduce young people to three distinct career paths: Advanced Manufacturing, Business & Entrepreneurship, and Health Care & Medical Wellness.
Specifically, within the framework of our Step Into Healthcare program, we are taking charge of the Health Care & Medical Wellness segment of CCCA for high school students. Our goal is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various health professions available to them. To achieve this, we have lined up an exciting group of guest speakers, engaging hands-on activities, and enriching field trips. |
